The world’s largest construction machinery trade show was held in Munich at the end of October, picking back up after a three-and-a-half-year hiatus. And what a spectacular expo it was! Since it was my first Bauma, there was a lot of excitement – and the crowds were huge. It’s the kind of thing I’d only ever seen at regional festivals. The very first thing that struck me: construction machinery is a real crowd magnet. And not just the bigger machines. Of course, the major manufacturers’ booths and exhibits – like Liebherr and Caterpillar – drew the biggest audiences, but exhibits by small-equipment manufacturers also attracted a lot of attention. The booths of “Powered by Hatz” manufacturers were especially popular.

As a Parts Store employee who often works in the office, the trade expo gave me a rare opportunity to personally see a range of devices that have a Hatz at their core. And what can I say? It was amazing to see how well our engines performed – and especially to try them out for myself. I got the chance to operate the machinery myself at various booths, including Weber Maschinentechnik and Bomag. Our parts can be found in various Weber machines, including the new CR7 vibratory plate. And at Bomag’s stand, I got the chance to try out the BPR 25/40 D. Naturally, our engines also power a variety of vibrating plates from Wacker Neuson, including the DPU5545. I was pounding the pavement at the expo so hard I think it some of it might have been worn away! ;-).

But even with the machines we weren’t able to see in motion, it was amazing to see how compact and but powerful they are: our 3H50 operates in the Kaeser Mobilair M59 compressors and in the Cedima CF-2900 D floor cutter, for example. Even in the compressors with up to 43.5 kW. That’s incredible power for such compact machines!

And what’s more, we were able to demonstrate at the trade show that our technology is reliable and durable in all weather. Anyone who was at Bauma will tell you that the weather was all over the place, from heavy rain and wind to bright sunshine. No challenge for our Hatz engines, of course.

If you’ve ever visited our booth at Bauma, you’ll know that in past years we’ve always had a brochure on hand to show all the ways our construction equipment has been deployed. And this year was no different. The impressive overview can be seen here: Hatz Applications @Bauma. I’ve only seen a small portion of the Hatz-powered machines, as everyone who carefully reads the leaflet will quickly realize. Working platforms, pump units, drilling rigs and much more besides depend on reliable and powerful technology from Hatz. But I’ll take a look at everything at the next Bauma, and I’ll be excited to tell you what’s happened in the time since the last expo. There’s no doubt that we’re always going to see more “powered by Hatz” construction equipment in the future.

Our Hatz booth was something very special this year too, of course. We showed off our new digital products, while our demonstration machine Concept Cube showed visitors where we’re headed in terms of electrification. Of course, we also showcased the whole Hatz Lifetime Services range, including EasyClean for DPF reconditioning and the Digital Service Portal DSP with its extensive features. Our live demonstrations of Tips ‘n’ Tricks allowed trade show attendees to see how well these services integrate with one another. And just so you know – you can find a lot more about this in the story highlights on our Hatz Lifetime Instagram channel. So it comes as no surprise that our appearance at the expo received so much attention – and so many visitors. We’re already looking forward to the next big construction machinery show: in March we’ll be showing off the highlights from our product range in Las Vegas at CONEXPO.
