Today, February 16, is National Innovation Day in the USA. In celebration of the upcoming Conexpo, the largest construction show in North America, we will present the power of Hatz's innovations. In our Innovation Day series, we will introduce you to one technology per week that will be presented at the trade show from March 14 to 18 in Las Vegas. This includes hybrid, electric, and digital solutions.

In recent years, we have invested in expanding our electrical and electronic expertise. Since 2021, we have been working with Inecosys to bring additional specialists for electronic systems and controllers on board. Applying Hatz’s knowledge of what machinery manufacturers and operators need, we will present our Concept Cube at Conexpo. This demo machine shows what innovative drive technology will make possible in the future. This new drive system, which has been redesigned from the ground up, forms the foundation for a completely new machine style and architecture and enables completely new features. In contrast to conventional (electrified) plate compactors, the Concept Cube is a remote-controlled unit that can move freely in all directions. The innovative drive system makes curves and diagonal movement possible. All connectivity components are an organic part of the machine concept. Retrofitting is not required. These benefits cannot be implemented in the same way with conventional drive systems and machine concepts.

In the past year, we launched our digital solutions. The first digital product from Hatz enables you to remotely monitor the status of Hatz engines, including key information about compact construction equipment. With an IoT (Internet of Things) module connected to the engine, information such as RPM, consumption, display of operating hours, geoposition and more can be transmitted to fleet management software. This information can be integrated into existing management systems or our Hatz IoT dashboard. This makes it easy for machine operators to optimally deploy and monitor their machine fleet.

Conexpo will also see our fiPMG (flywheel-integrated permanent magnet generator) power generation solution on display. The fiPMGs are suitable for use in hybrid systems, as backup against power failure, or for permanent power supply. They can also be used as range extenders in all-electric machines. With a construction depth of 35 mm and a weight of 3 kg, the Hatz fiPMG is over 85 percent lighter and shorter than conventional generators. The fiPMG enables longer machine operation in battery-electric drive mode, which helps to reduce emissions. The machine uses up to 40 percent less fuel when it's operated in hybrid mode, making a significant contribution to emissions reduction and cost savings.

To ensure a long life for your engines and machines, we offer a range of innovative services that make maintenance and servicing simple and easy. Our HDS2lite, for example, lets you view engine analysis data on your smartphone. The Hatz Smart Panel provides a user-friendly visualization of the engine’s operating data directly on the machine itself. And all service-related processes come together in our Digital Service Portal DSP. This includes our Protect+ Warranty extension and many other helpful updates for machine operators.
